International School in Nuclear Engineering 2007

Doctoral-level Courses in Advanced Nuclear Science

About the school

- Objectives

In the wake of the nuclear renaissance all around the world, the National Institute for Nuclear Science and Technology (INSTN) and the Nuclear Energy Division of CEA are opening a new international school in Nuclear Engineering, aiming at promoting knowledge in the field of reactor physics and engineering at a high education level.

- Program of courses

This first session consists of a series of advanced courses in nuclear engineering (nine modules of one week each) that will be held in Saclay (France) during the summer of 2007 (July and September):

- 1. Materials for Reactor Fuels and Structures

- 2. Experimental and Computational Data Evaluation and Assimilation

- 3. Validation and Qualification of Neutronics for Advanced LWRs and Fast Reactors

- 4. LWR Core Physics and Fuel Management

- 5. LWR Thermal-Hydraulics and Fuel Modeling

- 6. LWR Safety and Risk Assessment: From Gen II to Gen IV

- 7. Fast Reactor Thermal-Hydraulics and Fuels

- 8. Fast Reactor Safety and Risk Assessment

- 9. Fuel Cycle Back-End, Reprocessing and Waste Management

Lecturers are invited from internationally leading universities and research institutes in the nuclear field.

- Participants

These doctoral-level courses address both PhD students and post-docs in nuclear research.

They are also well suited for established engineers wishing to further their knowledge or diversify their skills in advanced nuclear science and engineering.
