Post-Secondary Education

The INSTN offers post-secondary educational programmes leading to a degree. Most of these span the many scientific and interdisciplinary areas in which the CEA is active.

Through these programmes, the Institute fosters the acquisition of new skills that will help students meet the future demands of research, industry and medicine.

Educational programmes

The INSTN oversees several programmes in research- or industry-related technological fields both individually and jointly with French universities and engineering schools.
Most of these are taught in French:

A diploma programme in « Génie atomique » (accessible only for the awarded a diploma engineers).

A master’s programme (most of the time, after having completed a first year of master in another institution).

Two curricula (M1 + M2) are proposed in English: a European Master’s in Molecular Imaging available through the EU-wide Erasmus programme, and an international Master’s in Nuclear Energy.
Other programmes, e.g. in radiation protection, and in health sciences (use of ionizing radiation for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes).

A number of the INSTN’s programmes have been opened up to the rest of Europe as part of the effort to establish the European Higher Education Area, whose objectives are to coordinate curricula and diploma offerings as well as to encourage the mobility of students and educators. As a result, partnerships have been created with numerous European establishments, especially through the association ENEN.

Finally, the Institute also coordinates the supervision and professional training of PhD candidates and post-docs at the CEA.
