INSTN - Cadarache

The CEA centre at Cadarache is located 40 km north of Aix-en-Provence, next to the A51 motorway, at junction 17 “Saint-Paul-lez-Durance / CEA Cadarache”.

Coming from the roundabout opposite the entrance to the Cadarache centre, take the road to “Vinon” (D952). After three kilometres, turn left at the “INSTN” sign. The INSTN training unit is 200 metres from the “Château de Cadarache”.

Sécurity checks

Access to CEA centres hosting the INSTN is controlled. Furthermore, all persons (students, trainees, lecturers, visitors, etc.) visiting the INSTN must have a document justifying their presence (student card, training course announcements, meeting notification or invitation, etc.) as well as valid proof of identity (national ID card, passport).

Coming by car

From Lyon (by motorway)

Take the A7 in the direction of “Marseille”, then the A8 towards “Nice / Toulon”. Exit at junction 29 “Aix Ouest”, then join the A51 to “Sisteron” and exit at junction 17.

From Lyon, exiting the motorway after Avignon

Take the A7 motorway to “Aix-en-Provence”. Continue on the A51 towards “Aix-en-Provence / Sisteron”. Take the N296 in the direction of “Avignon / Lyon / Sisteron / Gap”. Take the A51 motorway towards “Gap” and exit at junction 17.

From Grenoble

Take the N75 to “Sisteron”. Leave the N75 and take the A51 motorway to “Aix-en-Provence”, exiting at junction 17.

From Marseille

Take the A7 motorway to “Aix-en-Provence”. Continue on the A51 towards “Aix-en-Provence / Sisteron”. Take the N296 in the direction of “Avignon / Lyon / Sisteron / Gap”. Take the A51 motorway towards “Gap” and exit at junction 17.

From the Aix l’Arbois TGV train station

Join the D9 to “Aix-en-Provence / Les Milles”. Continue on the A51 motorway to “Aix-en-Provence / Sisteron” and then follow signs from Marseille.

CEA staff buses

32 regular bus services provide transport for CEA staff to and from most local areas in the region.

Staff are dropped at 8:00am at the centre’s bus station where shuttles link with the INSTN (10 min travel time).

Timetables and routes for these bus services can be obtained from the teaching assistants or the training organisers.
